Show Excellent - Venue HORRIBLE!

First let me say that the performance of Wicked was amazing and so worth the expense of the tickets! The venue on the other hand while historic and beautiful is one of the most uncomfortable seating experiences that I have ever experienced. I am a tall man at 6'4" and there was no possible way for me to sit in my seat viewing straight forward. In order to be seated at this event I was forced to sit sideways with my legs stretched out to the aisle (THANK GOD I WAS IN AN AILE SEAT). If I had been anywhere else I would have had to stand or leave the performance. Unfortunately I will likely never attend a future shows at the KC Music Theatre. When you pay the prices required to bring a top level show to KC you should be able to expect a seat that can accommodate someone over 5'11".

Wicked is awesome - MCMH, not so much

Arriving at Kansas City Music Hall, parking was as expected - very difficult, but manageable. Upon entering, 15mins prior to the show, people were making their way into the theater, elbow-to-elbow so we stopped at the bar. There should be a sign: "When you buy your $20 cocktail, you will not be able to take it into the theater". There we were, trying to chug a cocktail in front of the open doors where very unfriendly old women were standing guard like gargoyles. We asked for assistance getting to our seats -which we were told which door to go in. We threw the rest of the drinks away and walked to the doors when unannounced, and with 0 warning, the doors closed. 40+ people were left standing while the gargoyles crossed their arms and said we could go in in 10 minutes. 15 minutes later, they opened the doors. Once inside, we showed our tickets and they instructed us to leave and go in another door (remember the part about already asking?) So we did. We finally found our seats. The show was amazing - truly. The performers were highly skilled musicians and actors and we truly enjoyed it. It was magical. If you're female, bring a 2-liter. Don't even think about trying to get into the bathroom before, during or after. The line looked like Black Friday had suddenly appeared. Wicked: 5 stars. KCMH: 3. Staff: 0. So, we milled around
